Life Legacy

Cheryl Mae “Sherry” Johnson age 68 of Duluth, passed away Sunday June 2, 2013 at the Chris Jensen Nursing Home in Duluth. She was born January 26, 1945 in Duluth, MN the daughter of Clarence and Thelma (Moe) Swanson and graduated from Proctor High School in 1963. Sherry married Paul D. Johnson on December 11, 1964 in Duluth. She was employed as an Executive Secretary for Carlton-Cook-Lake-St. Louis Community Health Board for 30 years. Sherry was a talented cook who delighted in the preparation and presentation of delicious meals for family and friends. She enjoyed organizing social events that would leave a lasting impression for anyone who attended a party prepared by her. Her days relaxing at the family cabin on Lake Vermilion were special to her, and she enjoyed working in her garden and creating beautiful plant arrangements each season.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 48 years: Paul D. Johnson; mother: Thelma Swanson of Duluth, MN; daughter: Tami (Chris) Merry of Coon Rapids, MN; son: Chris (Wendy Graack ) Johnson of Key Largo, FL; grandson, Patrick Merry of Coon Rapids, MN; and by many dear friends she has influenced in her lifetime.
She was preceded in death her father, Clarence T. W. Swanson.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Bauman’s Vermilion Funeral Home, 501 Main Street Tower, MN. Inurnment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 noon at the Vermilion Club 3191 Old Highway 77 Tower, MN.
