Bernice Fern Bannar Johnson, age 99, of Hibbing and formerly of Minneapolis died Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Guardian Angels Healthcare Center in Hibbing. She was born July 23, 1909 in Hibbing the daughter of Theodore and Alma (Larson) Landswick. She attended school in Hibbing, and worked as a Telephone Operator in North Hibbing. Bernice also owned and operated various dry cleaning businesses in the state. She attended the 1st Presbyterian church, and was active at the Sr. Citizens center at the Memorial building where she also directed a men’s vocal group.
Bernice is survived by her sister: Joyce Olson of Hibbing, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four husbands; a brother: Earl Landswick; and four sisters: Gladys McGuire, Vera Trana, Louella Tawyea, and Bette St. Vincent.
A private service will be held in the Maple Hill cemetery.
