Biography

Eugene Paul “Gene” Josephson, age 75 of Virginia, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, in St. Raphael’s Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. He was born April 20, 1935 in Drummond, WI, the son of Emil Bernard and Marie (Johnson) Josephson and was a 1954 graduate of Drummond High School. Gene married Carol Post on June 8, 1963 in Drummond, WI, and served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent several years stationed in Germany and during that time visited distant relatives in Sweden. After his discharge form the Army, Gene lived in New Hope, Gilbert and Eveleth prior to moving to Virginia. He was employed by Apollo Pipe, Co. where he advanced to the position of Branch Manager. Later, he worked at Giants Ridge and for Mesabi Bituminous Co. Gene was an avid hunter, enjoying both deer hunting and duck hunting.
Gene is survived by daughters: Julie (Aaron) Lovell of Locust Grove, VA and Amy Josephson of Moseley, VA; grandchildren: Ryan Joseph and Regan Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Carol in 1991; brothers: Richard and Joe; and an infant sister: Mary.
