Richard Alfred Pearson

Biography

Richard 'Dick' Pearson, age 67, a longtime resident of Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 in his home. He was born May 29, 1944, in Virginia, MN. He was the son of Leonard Pearson and Virginia Turner Pearson and was a graduate of Mt. Iron High School, class of 1962. Dick joined the Army during the Vietnam War, was a Sergeant in the US Army 9th Division, and received the Air Medal for flying in 25 Combat Missions.
For several years Dick dedicated many hours to coaching Blue Line Hockey and Little League Baseball giving his wisdom, time, and resources freely. Dick was an avid outdoorsman, a sports fan, and a loving father. His favorite times were when he was hunting or fishing, and spending time with his son Phil. He retired from Minntac in 2000 after 30 years working as a welder/iron-worker.
Dick is survived by his son: Phillip Pearson (Ginger Steinfeldt) of Raleigh, NC; siblings: Darrell (Lynda) Pearson of Vista, CA, Patricia Lewis of Virginia, MN, Nancy (Thomas) Dostal of Chisholm, MN, Bonnie (Gene) Wright of Vacaville, CA, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert Pearson in 1965, Rodney Pearson in 2006, Roger Pearson in 1986 and sister Linda Einerson in 1988.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am memorial service, Saturday, December 31, 2011 in the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date.
