Edna Mae Husdal, age 94 of Virginia, MN, died peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Virginia Convalescent Center. She was born May 23, 1918 in Virginia, MN, the daughter of Iver and Amelia (Gibeau) Husdal. She was a graduate of the Virginia High School and Virginia Junior College. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Whitewater State University and her Master’s degree from the University of Wyoming at Laramie. She taught business education in Bruce, WI, Roberts, WI, and Ladysmith WI, retiring in 1980. She spent 18 winters in Mission, TX and lived in Hoyt Lakes for 12 years before moving to Edgewood Vista and then the Virginia Convalescent Center. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Sons of Norway and AARP.
Edna is survived by cousins out of the immediate area including Mariann Bondevik and Mary Young, as well as her friends and caregivers: Dorothy Stanek and Ellen Prinkkila of Hoyt Lakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and other relatives and friends.
Thank you to the caring staff at the Virginia Convalescent Center these past three plus years for keeping Edna comfortable and safe. Your amazing service to her needs was sincerely appreciated. Her smiling appearance reflected the love she had for her VCC home and personnel.
At Edna’s request, a graveside inurnment service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 26, 2012 at Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia. Reverend Father John Doyle will officiate.
Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
