Knute S Gustavsson

            Knute S. Gustavsson, age 65, longtime resident of Hibbing died Saturday, April 13, 2019, in his home with family at his side.  He was born March 1, 1954 in Cook, MN, the son of John and Margaret (Groh) Gustavsson.  He was a graduate of Hibbing High School.  Knute was united in marriage to Peggy D. Robbins on July 28, 1973, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing.

            Knute worked as a Utility Tech/Team Leader in the Agglomerator at US Steel for 41 years – retiring in 2014.  He was an umpire for softball and baseball for nearly 30 years.  Knute was proud of his sons, and took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed bowling, baseball, softball, hunting and fishing.

            Knute is survived by his wife: Peggy; sons: Michael (Valerie) Gustavsson of Mandan, ND, and David (Carrie) Gustavsson of Hibbing; siblings: Karen Gustavsson, Judy (Bob) Erickson, Linda Swanson, Dale Gustavsson, Carol (Ron) Cackoski, and Jill (Don) Ostermann; grandchildren: Sydney, Savannah, Sierra, Tucker, Kendal, Hunter, Riley, and Tanner; brothers and sisters-in-law: Douglas (Tina) Robbins, Debra (Greg) Hunter, Tina (Mike) Pulford, Brian (Sue) Robbins, Steven (Melissa) Robbins and Jeremy Robbins; and numerous extended family and friends.

            He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Roy; and brothers-in-law: Clifford Swanson and Kevin Robbins.

            Visitation will be from 4-6pm Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing.  Visitation will continue from 10am until the 11am Funeral Service Thursday, April 18, 2019, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hibbing.  Pastor Kevin Olson will officiate.  Interment will be in the Hibbing Park “Maple Hill” Cemetery.
