Marcella B (Wherland) Aslakson

            Marcella B. Aslakson, age 98, of Hibbing died Friday, February 1, 2019 at Home Sweet Home in Hibbing.  She was born October 27, 1920 in Hibbing the daughter of Roy and Mae (Auger) Wherland.  She attended Hibbing High School.  Marcy was united in marriage to Genford Aslakson in June of 1939 in Hibbing.  Together they moved in 1983 to Citrus Springs, FL until Genford’s death in 2008 when Marcy moved back to Hibbing.           

            Marcy worked as a homemaker.  She was a member of the Women of the Moose.  She enjoyed baking and cooking.

            She is survived by her children: Marilyn Roy of Brooklyn Park, MN, Richard (Liz) Aslakson of Rayville, LA, Tom (Mary Jean) Aslakson of Buhl, MN, and Gary (Sue) Aslakson of Burnsville, MN; sister: Patricia Capanoli of Hibbing; grandchildren: Tim Aslakson, Patrick (Nicolette) Aslakson, Michael George, Tammy George, Laura (Doug) Walz, Greg (Nikki) Aslakson, Brenda (Kevin) Ryks, and Justin Aslakson; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Genford in 2008; brothers: Bill (Loretta), Dwight (Mary) and John (Beatrice); and grandson: Jim.

            A gathering time for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Hibbing.  Inurnment will be in the Hibbing Park “Maple Hill” Cemetery at a later date.
