Monika Workman

Monika Marie Workman, age 46 of Mountain Iron, died Friday, December 28, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born February 1, 1972 in Virginia, the daughter of Karl “Smoke” and Nancy (Roth) Weatherton; attended Cook and Virginia High School, and received her AA Degree from Mesabi Community College. Monika married Jason Workman on September 30, 2000 in Virginia. She was employed as a portraiture enhancement artist for GW Tucker Studio, worked for Wells Fargo, Sykes, Delta Dental, and was a customer service rep and the “Tooth Fairy” for Anthem. Monika was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, its Joyful Noise! Choir, her bible study group, ran the Church’s Land of the Loon Parking Fundraisers, and was a member of the Via de Cristo Family. She was a member of the Elvis Fan Club and an avid collector of his memorabilia. Monika acted in productions by the Lyric Theater and the Mesabi Community Theater. She enjoyed scrapbooking, beading, knitting, crafting, and pretend gardening.

Monika is survived by her husband; Jason Workman; children: Brianne Olson of Virginia, Jesse Olson of Cook, and Skyler Workman of Mt. Iron; granddaughter: Lily Irene; father: Karl “Smoke” (Penny Warren, fiancée) Weatherton of Cook; brothers: Mark (Cari) Weatherton of Aurora and Travis (Alicia Kendall) Weatherton of Cook; Godmothers: Fran Shimmin and Debbie Ranum; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Weatherton in 2005.

A Gathering time for family and friends will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 p.m., Kari Olson, S.A.M. will officiate.
