Richard Earl “Rick” Aaseng, age 70, of Virginia died Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Essentia Health Virginia Care Center. He was born October 30, 1948 to Lawrence Earl and Elida Margretta (Sather) Aaseng. He was a graduate of Virginia High School and Bemidji College. He was an electrician by trade, working for the Virginia Public Utilities and for several of the mines.
Rick was a caring man with a giving spirit. Even in his passing, Rick has chosen to help others by participating in the University of Minnesota Medical School’s Anatomy Bequest Program, which supports high quality education for future health professionals and continued advancements in medical care through research.
Rick is survived by his son: Roger W. Aaseng (Fiancee’ Carissa Harrison) of Loveland, Colorado; Granddaughters: Kayla (Aaron) Bjorquist, Hannah Cadeau, and Cassidy Brokke; Three Great-Grandchildren; Brother: Roger M. Aaseng (Helen) of Florida; Sisters: JoAnne Benson of Wisconsin, and Debbie (Bill) McCormick of Virginia; Many nieces, nephews, and special cousins; canine companion Bojo; and Special Friends: The Bingo Burger Buddies.
He was preceded in death by his Loving Wife: Illa (Swartout) Aaseng; his Parents; Brother: Lawrence R. Aaseng; Sister: Roberta M. Mitchell; Brother-In-Law: Mark Benson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
