Thomas Emery Arnold, age 80, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Aitkin, MN and East Peoria, IL, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. He was born November 27, 1938 in Aitkin the son of Kenneth and Harriet (Julum) Arnold. He was a graduate of Aitkin High School. A Veteran of the United States Navy, Tom was stationed aboard the USS Lexington CVA-16, “The Blue Ghost”. Tom was united in marriage to Judith Lofgren on August 7, 1965 in Minneapolis, MN.

Tom was an insurance salesman with AAA Auto Club, Merchants & Miners Agency, and Sons of Norway, and he was the former owner of Refrigeration Sales & Service of Aitkin. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Tom was a member of the Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge #058, was a charter member and past president of the Hibbing-Chisholm Breakfast Rotary Club, and was a member of Masonic Lodge Mystic #213, the Hibbing Lodge of Perfection, the Scottish Rite, and the AAD Shrine Temple. Tom was a Life Member of the VFW and the DAV. He was a member and past chairman of the Salvation Army Board of Directors. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcarving, and painting.

Tom is survived by his sons: Michael (Jill) Arnold of Aitkin, and Timothy Arnold of Pengilly; sisters: Shirley (Ronald) Swords of Creve Coeur, IL, and Linda Tolbert of East Peoria, IL; grandchildren: Christopher (Jamie) Seykora, Tony Seykora, Tyler (Jamie Marty) Arnold, Jakob Arnold, and Niklaus Arnold; a step-granddaughter: Tina (Troy) Johnson; two great-grandsons: Kevin and Jackson, step-great-grandchildren: Eithen, Matthew, Maija, Troy, Jr., and Chase; son-in-law: Steve Seykora; and numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Cheryl Seykora; wife: Judith; sister: Christine Nelson; and special aunt: Luella “Kit” Julum.

Visitation will be from 4pm -7pm Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel with a Masonic Service at 7pm. The visitation will continue Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10am until the 11am Funeral Service at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Sarah Fike will officiate. Interment will be in the Hibbing Park “Maple Hill” Cemetery.
