Glen Johnson Obituary

Glen Albert Johnson passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2022. Glen was born April 8, 1928 to Alton and Lavada Johnson in Grand Junction, Iowa. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1945. Glen attended Simpson College (Indianola, IA) for one year before enlisting in the Air Force. Three years later he returned to Simpson and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelors Degree in Education. He then earned his Masters Degree from Drake University in 1955.

On August 3rd, 1957 he married Rose Marie Luce of Osceola, Iowa. Following marriage they moved to Hibbing, MN where they settled to raise their four children. Glen taught 7th and 8th grade math for 33 years until he retired in June of 1990.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, son Phillip Johnson, and son-in-law Rick Green. He is survived by his wife Rose, children; Margie Green of Osceola, IA, Doug (Lisa) Johnson of Corvallis, MT, Roger (Heather) Johnson of Helena, MT, and daughter-in-law Barbara Johnson of Burnsville, MN, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Glen treasured his time spent bird hunting, camping, and fishing with his children. He spent his summers at Kabetogama and Pelican Lake fishing and camping with his family and friends. His favorite campsite was on Little Sister Island. He also enjoyed visiting the Iowa State Fair to watch his grandchildren compete in 4H with their horses and cattle.

Fall was his favorite time of year because he was able to spend it duck hunting. He later spent time in Froid, Montana pheasant hunting and attempting to fly fish in the trout streams with his sons Doug and Roger.

In the winter, Glen spent his time ice fishing wherever he could and preparing his hunting and fishing gear. He enjoyed making duck decoys, fishing lures, and spinning rods. His spring time was spent anxiously awaiting for the ice to go out so he could get back in his boat for the fishing season opener.
