Charles Johnson Obituary

Charles Russell “Chas” Johnson, age 77, a lifelong resident of Ely died Sunday, November 25, 2018 in the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital. He was born April 13, 1941 in Ely, the son of Russell and Vera (Davis) Johnson and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Chas was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, four-wheeling, and spending time at the shack with his family and friends. Chas also loved to go camping, collecting many things, drawing, painting, and gardening. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. Chas always had some goofy antics going on, to make people laugh. He will be greatly missed by many people who loved him dearly.

Chas is survived by his wife: Cindy of Ely; sons: Chris Johnson of Coon Rapids and Chad (Kristy) Johnson of Ely; daughter: Tracy (Daniel) Timm of Champlin, stepdaughter: Amanda (Paul) Jiacik; grandchildren: Cory, Kelsey, Hunter, Kyle, Madelene, Kasey, and Savannah; great-grandson: Nolen; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife: Trudell Johnson; and daughter: Jamie Johnson.

The Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018 in the Ely United Methodist Church. Pastor Craig Haberman will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin at 12 Noon. Spring Inurnment will take place in the family plot in the Ely Cemetery.
