Obituary

Alfred Edward Schuenemann, age 88 of Virginia died Friday, August 14, 2009 in the Virginia Convalescent Center. He was born March 2, 1921 in Marinette, WI the son of George W. and Emily Schuenemann. Alfred married Helen McCormick on September 20, 1943 in Milwaukee; and served in mechanized cavalry and heavy artillery units of the US Army during WWII. He lived in Eau Claire, Wascott, and Superior prior to moving to Virginia in 2002. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Eau Claire and then moved to Wascott where he owned and operated a resort for many years. Alfred was a member of the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post # 499 of Gordon, WI. He loved gardening, wine making, and canning.
Alfred is survived by children: Bonnie Jean Schuenemann of Virginia, MN, Linda Schuenemann of Caldwell, Idaho, Joyce Stavos of Virginia, MN, and Rick (Robin) Schuenemann of Robbinsdale, MN; grandchildren: Thomas Lohse, Fredrick Lohse, Althea McCormick, Brett Schuenemann, and Kyle Schuenemann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife: Helen in 1999.
Graveside Services will be held in the Wascott Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Military Honors accorded by the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post # 499.
