Alma A. (Hietala) Olson, of Hibbing, passed away at the Guardian Angels Health and Rehab. Center on October 24, 2011, following a brief illness. Alma was born on October 8, 1928 in Cedar Valley, MN, the daughter of Jobi and Elma (Viirtjarvi) Hietala. She was raised in Cedar Valley Township by Jonas and Olga Hietala. She married Roger J. Olson from Moose Lake, MN, on November 7, 1953, in Cedar Valley.
Alma is survived by her children: Karen (Larry) Bohjanen and Jerry Olson, both of Hibbing; grandchildren: Anna Bohjanen of Minneapolis, Jenny (Joshua) Hepokoski of Champlin, and Erik (Senja) Bohjanen of Minneapolis; and great-grandson: Mikko Bohjanen.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband Roger in 1989, her parents Olga and Jonas Hietala, and 19 siblings.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2011 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home, in Hibbing. Visitation will continue from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am funeral service Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Cedar Valley Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church. Bill Tuominen will officiate. Casket bearers will be: Larry Bohjanen, Erik Bohjanen, Joshua Hepokoski, Don Isaacs, Peter Isaacs, and Gary Hendrickson.
