Becky Lynn Mickelson, age 55 of Zim, died Saturday, May 4, 2013 in her home after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 4, 1958 in Two Harbors, MN and was the daughter of Adrian and Marjorie (McKay) Johnson. Becky was a graduate of the William M. Kelley High School in Silver Bay and Vermilion Community College. She married Keith Alan Mickelson on September 3, 1977 at the Sycar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay and was a longtime resident of Zim. Becky was a co-owner and operator of the Greater Minnesota Agency of Virginia, MN. She highly valued the friendship and support of her colleagues Mick, Val, and Jim over the past 30 plus years. Becky was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron and enjoyed her time with "the girls." Her favorite activities included reading, camping, going for drives, puzzles, and games. She was known for her positive spirit, contagious smile, and putting others needs ahead of her own. Becky's priority was her family and she cherished time spent with them.
Becky is survived by her husband of 35 years: Keith; children: Sara Ann (Aaron) Lassila of Rochester, MN, Brian "Bud" Keith Mickelson of Zim, and Brent Eric Mickelson of Zim; parents: Adrian and Marjorie Johnson of Silver Bay; siblings: Gail (Bruce) Smith of Fargo, ND and Forrest Johnson of Las Vegas, NV; father and mother-in-law: Roger & Lois Mickelson of Silver Bay, MN; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, aunts and uncles.
A Gathering Time for Family and Friends will be held Wednesday, May 8, 213 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron. The gathering will continue Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at the Church. Pastor Krehl Stringer will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Zim Cemetery.
