Betty E. Glavich, age 88 a longtime resident of Virginia passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in Essentia Health – Virginia. She was born May 26, 1926 on the family homestead located on the St. Louis River in Fayal Twp., the daughter of Arthur and Elvera (Frants) Usitalo; and was a 1943 graduate of Virginia High School. Betty married Ernest Glavich on October 27, 1949 in Ohio and was a lifelong area resident. She was employed as a bookkeeper and a cashier for the Piggly-Wiggly grocery store and had previously worked at the Franklin Creamery. Betty was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia where she was a member of the Miriam Circle, the Mission Sewing Group, and the Monthly Newsletter Crew. She enjoyed swimming, reading, working crossword puzzles and loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events.
Betty is survived by daughters: Lana McCall of Virginia, June "Chris" (Randy) Ridlon of Gilbert, Janet (Terry) Pearson of Circle Pines, and Linda (Gary) Friedlieb of Virginia; grandchildren: Shawna (Rob) Gibson, Jimmy (Tarsia) Mattila, Amy Suihkonen, Wendy Birk, Shelby Olson, Kori Olson, Kelly (Rob) Tooke, Jodi Pearson, Lori Pearson, Giles Friedlieb, Evan Friedlieb, and Jace Friedlieb; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband: Ernest.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Spring inurnment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
