Bruce Glenn Schottmuller, age 69 of Virginia died Saturday, March 10, 2012 in his home. He was born April 17, 1942 in St. Paul, MN the son of Milton and Marjorie (Ravey) Schottmuller. Bruce grew up in Newport, MN, was a graduate of St. Paul Park High School, and attended the University of Wisconsin – Stout and Minnesota State University – Mankato. He married Jean Stettner on August 24, 1962 in St. Paul Park, MN. They moved to Sanborn, MN where Bruce taught school and coached. After teaching Bruce was instrumental in the development of the golf course in Sanborn. When Bruce was hired by US Steel Minntac in 1978 they moved to Murphy Lake where Bruce built his own house. He worked for Minntac in various capacities including Metallurgist and Metallurgist Tech until his retirement in 2004. In 2008 they moved from Murphy Lake into Virginia. Bruce was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a skilled wood worker, enjoyed hunting, and cherished time spent with his family.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 49 years: Jean; children: Wade (Jena) Schottmuller of Murphy Lake, Wendy (Bruce) Sweny of Tower, Wannette (Jay) Miller of Gilbert, Dana Schottmuller of Buffalo, and Dawn (David) Crandall of Virginia; siblings: Barb (Jim) Berquam, Sharon Erickson, Bob (Birdie) Schottmuller, Steve (Pauline) Schottmuller, and Jeff (Brenda) Schottmuller; grandchildren: Justin (Annie) Schottmuller, Raschelle Schottmuller, Corrissa Schottmuller, Jarrett (Kylie) Schottmuller, WilliamThraenert, Christopher Thraenert, Nicholas Thraenert, Benjamin Thraenert, Heather Miller, Colton Miller, Matthew Campbell, Connor Campbell, Katherine Campbell, Carter Crandall, Ashton Crandall, and Briar Crandall; great-grandchildren: Lydia, Everett, and Jeremiah; Nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother: Lee Schottmuller.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until the 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate.
Memorials are preferred.
