Carmella
Kure
Sep 26, 1926 — Oct 11, 2010
Carmella (Carmie) Kure of Virginia, died Monday October 11, 2010 at St. Michaels Rehabilitation Center in Virginia after suffering from long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on September 26, 1926 to Italian immigrants Donato and Incorgnota Debreto and was most proud of her Italian heritage. After graduation she went to Washington D.C., to work and support the war effort. When she returned she married Joseph Edward Kure on October 14, 1950, and they raised their five children in Virginia. Carmella and Joseph were together for 48 years, and were separated in death, when Joseph died unexpectedly on November 20, 1998. Carmella was extremely proud to be a housewife and raise her children and grandchildren which was her purpose in life. She was a caregiver and took care of many friends and family members during their most difficult times during their battles with illness. She loved music and animals, and especially taking care of her dog Joey, who gave her much joy.
We are eternally grateful for the staff and management at Diamond Willow who took care of our mother, and allowed us to bring her beloved dog Joey to live with her when she no longer could take care of herself in her home in April 2009.
Carmella is survived by her sister; Lucy Poupard, sister-in-law; Phylis Debreto; her children, who were blessed by the love and support of their parents: Jo Kure, David (Ank) Kure, Nancy (Fred) Shusterich, Dan (Kristi) Kure and Jane Kure; grandchildren: Lesli Dagnault, Corrie Foster Little, Althea Kure, Ty Kure, Laura Shusterich, and Joesph Kure; great grandchildren: Eli Little and Evan Dagnault; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be missed for her loving and tough spirit.
She was preceded in death by husband Joseph Kure; her parents; brothers: Rocci and Lawrence Debreto; sister: Loretta Henke; and grandson: David Kure.
