Carol Marie Burgess, age 90 of Tower died Thursday, August 17, 2017 in Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center in Tower. She was born November 22, 1926 in Little Falls, MN the daughter of Robert L. and Hazel (Magnuson) Stromberg. Carol grew up in Little Falls, MN graduated from Little Falls High School and the Winona State University with a degree in Elementary Education then moved to Tower and taught 3rd grade at the Soudan School. She married Delbert Roy "Dell" Burgess on October 25, 1952 in Crosby, MN. She was a teacher, wife, mother, homemaker, grandma, great-grandma, and cherished time spent with her family. Carol was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower, the Nelson-Jackson American Legion Post #245 auxiliary, TOPS, WELCA, and had worked at the Tower News. She was an avid reader, gardener, enjoyed cross country skiing, snowmobiling, boating, family outings and was a Twins fan. Carol looked forward to her annual trip to Las Vegas with her brother and sister-in-law, and enjoyed the music of the Mesabi Orchestra and German Bands.

Carol is survived by her sons: Steven (Barb) of Soudan and Rodney (Margie) Burgess of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren: Alli (Ryan) Harasyn of Seattle, Cole Burgess and Leanne Burgess both of Newnan, Ga.; great-grandson: Sammy; sister-in-law: Joan Stromberg of Golden Valley; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Dell Burgess and brother: Robert Stromberg.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower. Pastor Liz Cheney will officiate. A Gathering time for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
