Surrounded by her family, Carol Mae Olson, age 87, longtime resident of Hibbing, MN, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2024, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 31, 1936, in Roseau, MN, Carol was the daughter of Henry and Gena Halvorson.  She was a graduate of Roseau High School.  She was united in marriage to DuWayne A. Olson on November 11, 1955, in Roseau. Carol worked for more than 25 years at US Bank in Hibbing. She served on the Salvation Army Board for many years and attended Chisholm Baptist Church.  Carol was the happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. DuWayne and Carol loved fishing, camping, going to the high school hockey tournaments, and mostly bringing the family together. Carol was much loved and will be deeply missed by her husband of 68 years, DuWayne; her daughters: Pam (Bob) Branshaw of Chippewa Falls, WI, Becky (Jeff) Tromp of Hibbing, MN, and Deb (Chuck) Day of Andover, MN; grandchildren: Nic (Jen) Branshaw, Patrick Branshaw, Nathan Tromp, Lauren (Josh) Olsen, Emily Tromp, Mitch (Katie) Day, Tony (Amanda) Day, Sam (Meredith) Day, and Peter (Blanche) Day; and her twelve great-grandchildren.  As well as numerous extended family and friends. Carol is preceded in passing by her parents, and brothers Harvey, Allen, Kenny, Curtis, and Luverne. Join us to celebrate Carol's life on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Chisholm Baptist Church, 5001 County Hwy 5, Chisholm, MN.  Visitation at 10:00 am with the service to follow at 11:00 am.  The Reverend Dan Erickson will officiate.  Interment will be at a later date in Roseau, MN.
