Cary Frank Schirmer, age 48, lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, in his home, following a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born June 24, 1964, in Hibbing the son of William Jr. and Carol Ann (Kosluchar) Schirmer. He graduated from Hibbing High School. Cary was united in marriage to Sharon Stone on August 27, 1988.
Cary worked as a flooring installer for Carpet Plaza in Hibbing. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and watching his boys play basketball.
Cary is survived by his wife: Sharon; two sons: Ryan and Travis Schirmer; his parents: William Jr. (Carol Ann) Schirmer of Hibbing; his sister: LeeAnn (James) Smith of Eagan, MN; parents in-law: Richard (Marilyn) Stone of Hibbing; brothers and sisters in-law: Bruce (Gail) Stone of Hibbing, Steve (Melissa) Stone of Montrose, MN, Jeff Stone of Duluth, MN, Stacey (Don) Rotness of Hibbing, and Sue (Jeff) Stahl of Hibbing; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother: William H. Schirmer III; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service Monday, October 29, 2012, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Erik Holleque will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Memorials are preferred to East Range Hospice.
