Charles Marvin Barden, age 85, longtime resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in the Mission Nursing Home Plymouth, MN. He was born December 13, 1924 in Hibbing the son of Bill and Mae (Moillenen) Barden. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Skrbich in 1953 in Hibbing. A Veteran of the US Navy, Charles served on board the USS Astoria in the Pacific during WWII.
Charles was a foreman for Range Cornice and Roofing in Hibbing. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Mesaba Lodge #255 in Hibbing, the Shriners, and the Drum & Bugle Corps. He was an avid reader of history.
Charles is survived by his wife: Dorothy; three children: Kim (Dennis) Johnson of Red Wing, MN, Jayne (Lyle) Barden-Oddan of Chaska, MN, and Charles (Linda Plessner) Barden of Waconia, MN; two brothers: Merrill (Ruth) Barden of Orlando, FL, and Terry (Sharon) Barden of Brunswick, GA; four grandchildren: Patrick Oddan, Alex Oddan, Aaron Barden, and Emmylou Barden.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private services will be held. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing. Military Honors accorded by the Hibbing Servicemen's Honor Guard.
