Charles F. Meyer, 90, a longtime resident of Chisholm, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the Fairview Range Hospital in Hibbing. He was born March 27, 1926, in Duluth the son of Godlob and Marina "Mary Jane" (Van Rossum) Meyer. He attended school in Duluth, and went on to attend the Duluth Business School. A Veteran of the US Navy, Charles served aboard the USS Bullard during WWII. He was united in marriage to Shirley Hietala on May 5, 1951 in Duluth.

Charles worked as a foreman at the US Steel Minntac Plant. He was a member of the American Legion in Chisholm, and attended the Chisholm Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and curling.

Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years: Shirley; his daughter: Cheryl Meyer of Laguna Niguel, CA; and numerous extended family members and friends – including Beverly Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son: Thomas; his sister: Joyce Johnson; and his brother: Godlob "Babe" Meyer.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm Funeral Service on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Chisholm Baptist Church. The Reverend Dan Erickson will officiate. Interment will be in the Chisholm Cemetery.
