Chester Lawrence Myrum, age 81, longtime resident of Hibbing died Monday, October 12, 2009 in Oklee, MN. He was born November 29, 1927 in Mayfield Twp., the son of Ole and Sarah (Austad) Myrum. On June 6, 1954 he married Marjorie Prigge in Oklee, MN.
Chester was an Army veteran of WWII serving in Japan. He was employed at several mining companies, retiring from Hibbing Taconite in 1989 as a cat skinner. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family.
He is survived by his daughters: Sandy (Gary) Mesich of Vienna, VA and Sharon (Wayne) Bundy of Downing, WI; his son: David (Sheri) Myrum of Hibbing; daughter-in-law: Polly Myrum of Hibbing; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brother: Harold Myrum of Oklee, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Marjorie in 2004; his son: Dennis in 2009; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.
A viewing will be Saturday, October 17th 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until the 12:00 noon service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
