Clarence M. Johnson, age 96, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Kelly Lake died Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born January 7, 1917, in Crookston, MN, the son of Charles J. and Marie (Marchildon) Johnson.

Clarence was a Veteran of the US Army who served with the 42nd Engineer Construction Battalion in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during WWII. He worked as a hostler helper for Burlington Northern Rail Road.

Clarence is survived by nieces and nephews: James Johnson, Jennifer Althaus, Janice Miller, and Roger Himes; and a sister-in-law: Ruth Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Gordon; and his sister: Mayme .

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 14, 2013, at 4:00 pm in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. Lt. Randy Stahl will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Maple Hill cemetery in Hibbing.
