Corey James Tuominen age 32 of Soudan died Monday, October 15, 2012 in his home. He was born May 24, 1980 in Virginia, MN the son of James Lee and Wendy (Syrjanen) Tuominen and was a lifelong resident of Tower-Soudan. Corey enjoyed coin collecting, was good at cards, dabbled in the stock market, and was a whiz on the computer. He was an accomplished unicycle rider, raised ferrets, loved animals, and helped as a caretaker while his grandpa Jim was ill.
Corey is survived by his parents: Jim and Wendy Tuominen of Soudan; maternal grandparents: Bob and Judy Syrjanen of Soudan; paternal grandmother: Carol Tuominen of Tower; great-grandmothers: Viola Lamppa and Vieno Syrjanen both of Virginia; brother: Tyler Tuominen of Soudan; sister: Tara (Matt) Snyder of Soudan; aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather: James Earl Tuominen.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service in St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. Pastor Bill Evans will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
