Cory Scott Kozar, age 49 of Aurora died Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He was born February 28, 1965 in Virginia, the son of Frank "Poncho" and Bea (Motti) Kozar. He lived in Virginia, Eveleth, Grand Rapids, and International Falls and graduated from High School in Medford, Oregon. Cory loved wood working and building, was a journeyman carpenter, the owner/operator of C&M Builders in Minneapolis and later was employed by Oxford Construction of Aurora for many years. He loved to hunt, especially deer hunting; fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, wood working, biking, and was a golden gloves boxer. Cory's greatest love was for his kids and he was anxiously anticipating the arrival of Cody and Sam's daughter in December. He looked forward to spending time with family and friends, especially the Game Night Friends. Cory was outgoing, adventurous, awesome to be around, would make you smile, and never let there be a dull moment.
Cory is survived by girlfriend and soul mate Kim Baczewski; sons: Zach (Sally) King and their children Layla and Mason, Anthony Kozar and Cody (Samantha) Kozar; stepson: Nicholas Bauman; Mom: Bea Paulson; brother: Bart Kozar; sister: Kristin (Dennis) Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, including Brad Starken and lifelong friend: Steve Branstrom.
He was preceded in death by his father: Frank "Poncho" Kozar, his step-father: Marvin Paulson; paternal grandmother: Anne Kozar; Maternal grandparents: Stroniro and Frances Motti; and numerous great aunts and uncles.
A Gathering time for family and friends will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Bauman Caron Funeral Home in Virginia.
