Daniel T. McDonald, age 56 of Mountain Iron, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was born April 13, 1960 in Virginia, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Akey) McDonald; was a graduate of Mt. Iron High School; and served in the United States Army from 1981 to 1988 as a Blackhawk helicopter crew chief. Dan lived in Arizona, Fargo, Minneapolis, and various Army Bases prior to returning to Mt. Iron. He was a 20 year employee of Tri Tec and worked as a fabricator/welder. Dan loved to garden and to go camping with his life partner, Michelle. He also liked to hunt, ice fish, ride his Harley, and spend time with his canine companion, Dexter.

Dan is survived by his life partner: Michelle Anderson; children: David McDonald, Julie McDonald, and Dillon (Tessa) McDonald; siblings: Joseph McDonald of Britt, Patty (Steve) Kamunen of Makinen, Robert (Sherry) McDonald of Iron, Jean (Mark) Pohto of Cook, and Ray (Connie) McDonald of Fargo: several grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mt. Iron Community Center.
