Obituary


David John "Orlo" Anderson, age 65 of Virginia passed peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus on Monday March 9, 2015 in the care of the Essentia East Range Hospice Team, with his family by his side. He was born November 21, 1949 in Virginia the son of Orlo and Theresa (Szymanski) Anderson, and was a lifelong resident of Virginia. David had a thirst for knowledge, graduating from Virginia Roosevelt High School, Mesabi Junior College, the University Minnesota Duluth with a bachelor's Degree in a double major of Political Science and Geography, and attended Minnesota State Mankato and Bemidji State University in Business related studies. David married Rochelle Baland on March 27, 1982 in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia. He was employed as a locomotive Engineer for Erie Mining Company and the Duluth-Winnipeg & Pacific, was a Funeral Service Attendant at the Bauman-Cron Funeral Home, and was in Industrial Salesman for KAR Products. David was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks Lodge, was a RAMS member, a member of the Friends of the Library, and was very proud to serve the citizens of Virginia on the Virginia City Council. Orlo had a passion for talking politics, was a proud Iron Ranger, and loved to cook. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips, loved gardening, and watching his Minnesota twins baseball games. David cherished his family, loved the family get-togethers, and was most proud of his children.
David is survived by his wife: Rochelle; children: Kristen (Ben) Stahl of Virginia, Katie Anderson of Virginia, and Michael Anderson of Virginia; siblings: Orlo "Andy" (Jessie) Anderson of San Bernardino, CA. Jean (Jon) Virant of Virginia, and Thomas (Koni) Anderson of Virginia; father and mother-in law: Gerald (Marcia) Baland; brother-in-law: Michael (Connie) Baland, sister-in-law: Jennifer (Steve) Godbout; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Orlo and Theresa.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Reverend Father Brandon Moravitz will celebrate the Mass.
Memorials are a preferred way to honor David's memory.
