David Alfred Bergquist, age 64, lifelong resident of Parkville and West Virginia, died Thursday, October 13, 2011, in his home. He was born May 15, 1947, in Virginia, the son of Harold and Gladys (Johnson) Bergquist. He graduated from Mt. Iron High School and went on to complete his Electrical Apprenticeship. He was united in marriage to Marcia Strand on June 17, 1972, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Virginia.
David worked as an electrician through IBEW 294. He loved spending time with his family – especially at Lake Vermilion. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, trapping, boating, and all of his Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, presently Bella & Sophie.
David is survived by his wife: Marcia; his daughters: Jennifer Bergquist of Plymouth, MN, Anna (John) Palo of Mt. Iron, MN, Elizabeth (Chris) Cheney of Forest Lake, MN, Mary (Matt) Berg of Virginia, MN, and Becka (Jared) Ahrens of Virginia, MN; a brother: Daniel (Gail) Bergquist of San Diego, CA; and four grandchildren: Mackala Palo, Anthony Ahrens, Lexi Ahrens, and Emma Berg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, October 17, 2011, in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia. Fr. John O'Donnell will be the officiant. Memorials are preferred.
