Dean Albert Fairbanks, age 76, longtime resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in his home. He was born January 23, 1934 in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Dell and Katherine (Lundberg) Fairbanks. He graduated from Hibbing High School in 1952, and went on to serve in the US Army and was stationed in Japan. He was united in marriage to Janice Margaret Podominick.
Dean worked as a mining foreman for Hibbing Taconite Co. and retired after 40 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he loved spending time at his hunting shack in Goodland.
Dean is survived by his wife of 53 years: Janice; three sons: Dan Fairbanks of Goodland, Bill (Sandy) Fairbanks of Hibbing, and Paul (Jeanne) Fairbanks of Hibbing; three grandchildren: Nichole, Amanda, and Sarah Fairbanks; his sister: Joni (Dick) Zenisek of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the 12:00 noon service Monday, November 8, 2010 in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel, in Hibbing. The Reverend John Dietz will officiate. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
