Delores Irene Bjerklie, 75, died August 20th, 2018, with her family by her side in Hibbing, MN.

She was born October 28, 1942 to Edwin and Alice (Larson) Quam in Fosston, MN and was raised in Trail, MN on the family farm. She graduated from nursing school as a LPN in 1961. In 1962, Delores married Orvis Bjerklie of Trail, MN. She also was a school bus driver for 20 years in Cherry, MN . Before her retirement, she even was a teamster employee on the pipeline.

Delores thoroughly enjoyed crafts and loved to paint. She also enjoyed her flower garden and spent numerous hours making it beautiful filled with lights and lawn decorations. There were many years she had fun entering projects at the county fair and won many awards.

Delores also loved to go deer hunting and fishing. She spent many years camping at the lake, 4-wheel rides, snowmobiling, and was one of the biggest fans of the Cherry Tigers Fastpitch. Her and her husband also loved to travel and saw most of the United States and also got to go to Norway which was always one of her dreams. Delores and her husband lived and raised their children in Cherry, MN and was very active in the community and her Lutheran church. She was also one of the founding members of the Tiger Club in her local school.

In addition, Delores cherished the time she spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren which held a special place in her heart along with her nieces and nephews. She loved to spend time with family and friends and was always ready to have coffee or go on adventure (like riding an elephant at the circus or on a dog sled in Alaska).

Survivors include her husband of 56 years: Orvis Bjerklie; son: Darrell (Sheila) Bjerklie of Biwabik, MN; daughter: Elaine (Mike) Florkowski of Goshen, NY; grandchildren: Dana (Dan) Lindberg of Duluth, MN, Denise (Chris) Schleifer of Cherry, MN, Dorie (Andy) Tronnes of Hibbing, MN, DeAnn (Issac) Erickson of Zim, MN, Devon (Anthony Warner) Bjerklie of Hibbing, MN, Jeff (Rachel Quinn) Florkowski of Jersey City, NJ, Michael Florkowski of Juneau, AK; Miranda Florkowski of Goshen, NY , Lisa (Kevin) Manson of Minneapolis, MN, Krysta (Michael) Green of St. Louis, MO, Ashley Gilbert (Brandon Lambe) of Duluth, MN, Bill Dannis of San Diego, CA, Amy Dannis of Phoenix, AZ; Great Grandchildren: Calvin Schleifer, Elliott Schleifer, Warren Schleifer, Davis Lindberg, Delaney Lindberg, Nora Tronnes, Ashton Bjerklie, Evan Manson; Eli Green; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Alice Quam; in-laws: Clarence and Josie Bjerklie; two brothers: Art Quam, and Pervin Quam; one sister: Irene Quam; sister-in-law: Joyce Strandberg and her husband Emil Strandberg; and nephews: Curtis Quam and Roger Drelleck.

Delores was always supportive and encouraging, always wise and kind, she will forever remain in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at the Faith United Lutheran Church (8964 Hwy 37, Iron, MN) at Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 pm. There will be an hour visitation at 11 am prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Stroke Association or the Activity Center at Cornerstone in Buhl, MN.
