Delores E. "Dee" von Fischer of Hibbing, passed away Saturday, January 08, 2011, with her family by her side, in the University Medical Center – Mesabi. She was born in Cottonwood County, MN; the daughter of Harry and Esther (Graff) Karow. Dee attended Sanborn High School and Hibbing Junior College. She married Robert von Fischer on March 9, 1951 in Springfield, MN. They made their home in Albert Lea, and Cloquet prior to moving to Hibbing in 1972. Dee was employed as a dental assistant, a Welcome Wagon Representative, and was a clothing store window display designer. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing, an associate member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, and PEO Chapter DE. Dee was loving, generous, and encouraging. She was a prayer warrior who loved her church. An elegant woman of style, Dee was a very loyal friend. She had a flair for interior design, enjoyed entertaining and people. Dee enjoyed tennis, dancing, and singing.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years: Robert; daughters: Jodi (Dr. Dave) Luby of Omaha, NE, Sue (Steve) Grillo of Eveleth, Juli (Bo) Skillman of Prior Lake, and Beth (Mike) Hukka of Rosemount; sisters: Vera Puchta of St. Peter and Lois Mattison of Lamberton, MN; grandchildren: Dirk Walton, Erin Dowding, Kelsea Johnson, Jenny Dougherty, Molly Luby, Ashley Skillman, Jordan Skillman, Billy Hukka and Jessica Hukka; great-granddaughters: Tatum and Hannah; and a host of friends.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 from 6pm until 8 pm in the Anderson Daniels Funeral Home Chapel in Hibbing. Visitation will continue Tuesday, from 12:30 pm until the 1:30 Celebration of Life Service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Erik Holleque will officiate.
