Dennis "Pinky" Myrum, age 52, a lifelong resident of Hibbing, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 in Hibbing. He was born December 31, 1956 in Hibbing, the son of Chester and Marjorie (Prigge) Myrum. He graduated from Hibbing High School and then attended the millwright program while employed at U.S. Steel. On August 23, 1980 he married Polly Elling in Duluth, MN.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing.
Pink was employed as a millwright at U.S Steel until his retirement in December 2008. He put 32 years of hard work and dedication in at Minntac, where he was loved by many, and in return thought of them the same.
Everyone who knew Pink knew that he was a kindhearted, dedicated, hardworking, wonderful, genuine, man, who was always there when you needed a hand. He especially enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, camping, and woodcutting were among his favorites. He mostly loved spending time at the "Huntin" Shack with his family and friends. He loved and treasured his girls and always made sure that they were well taken care of as well as his loving wife, Polly.
"Pinky" will be greatly missed by all the lives of those he touched. He truly was a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and his generosity and giving of himself has not and will never be forgotten.
"Pinky" is survived by, Polly; his daughters, Kaylee Myrum of Grand Forks ND and Kelsey Myrum of Hibbing; his father, Chester Myrum of Hibbing; sisters, Sandy (Gary) Mesich of Vienna, VA and Sharon (Wayne) Bundy of Downing, WI; brother, David (Cheryl) Myrum of Hibbing and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Myrum on December 31, 2004.
Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2009 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home and will continue Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 2:00 pm until the 3:00 pm service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Erik Holleque will officiate.
