Diane Vivien Colvin, 65, of Hibbing, passed away early Friday, November 4th, 2011, surrounded by family, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Diane was born Sept. 11, 1946, in Toronto, Ontario. She moved extensively in her early years with her family throughout Canada, the united States and Mexico, finally settling in Hibbng in 1963. She attended nursing school at Hibbing Community College, and was a long-time nurse at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi. In 1997, Diane returned to school at St. Catherine University-Minneapolis Campus. She graduated in May 1998 with certificates in holistic therapies and health and wellness counseling.

Diane was proud to become a U.S. citizen in 2003. She enjoyed many pastimes such as reading, sewing, beading, and medieval re-enactment.

She is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Jess) Tippetts; grandson, Jack Zozgornik; brother, Brian (Shelley) Colvin; sister, Barb Colvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, M. Gordon Colvin and Peggy colvin.

Funeral: A private memorial service is being planned for early summer 2012.

Memorials: The family asks that any memorials be donated to the American Cancer Society.
