Obituary

On Saturday November 17, 2018, Diane Denise (Rand) Hohl , went home to be with the Lord after a hard-fought battle with cancer at her home in Side Lake, Minnesota at the age of 64.

Denise was born in Rogers, Arkansas to Guy Ashley "Bill" Rand, Jr. and Kathryn Sue Perry Rand on October 2, 1954. She graduated from Rogers High School in Rogers and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a secretarial degree. Denise married her husband, best friend, and devoted caregiver, David J.Hohl on October 21, 1978. They fell in love very quickly and knew God had brought them together. They were engaged to be married one week after first meeting. Together they raised a son, Erik and daughter, Shannon. She was an active member of Chisholm Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school among many other things.

Possessing a creative and active mind and spirit throughout her life, Denise was an avid tennis player, worked with stained glass, was an imaginative quilter, loved gardening, and beautifully played the cello. She shared her love and helpful spirit through her work with the developmentally challenged at The Range Center in Chisholm until her retirement in 2016. But her greatest joy and the focus of her life was unwavering commitment to her husband, her children and grandchildren, and to her Lord and Savior.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, John Lawrence Edward Perry, Sr., Kate Valentine Pennington Perry, Guy Ashley Rand, Sr., Gracie Mae Raney Rand, and by her father, Guy Ashley "Bill" Rand, Jr.

Denise is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 40 years, David J. Hohl, son Erik Michael (Heather) Hohl of Dallas, TX, daughter Shannon Ashley Hohl (Ryan) LaCoursiere of Hermantown, MN, mother Kathryn Sue Perry Rand, sister Marta Marie Rand (Bill) Lemley of Roanoke, VA, four grandchildren, Levi Kukowski, Rowan, Luella and Sawyer Hohl, and many nieces and nephews, extended family members and many amazing and loving friends.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and practitioners, Hospice caregivers who contributed to Denise's care and comfort, to those who visited over the past few months to sing hymns and share remembrances and good-byes, to Carol Ellefson, Kim Walker, Karen Faust, Cindy Stone, Marcy Johnson, Deb Koth, Sue Bratulich, and Siri Stolhammer who spent time with Denise when David had to be away, and to the many others too numerous to mention who provided food over the past many months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday November 28, 2018 in the Chisholm Baptist church with Pastor Dan Erickson officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the services in the Chisholm Cemetery.
