Donald N. Engebretson, age 91, longtime resident of Hibbing and formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his home. He was born November 25, 1926, in Detroit Lakes, the son of Jerome and Olive (Tovson) Engebretson. He was a graduate of Detroit Lakes High School and went on to receive his license as an electrician. A veteran of the US Air Corps, Don served during WWII. He was united in marriage to Bertha S. Johnson on August 7, 1948, in Detroit Lakes.

Don worked as an electrician, retiring in 1990 following 50 years of work. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, the VFW, and Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge #058. He enjoyed bowling, square dancing, quilting in his later years, and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years: Bertha; children: David (Frederike) Engebretson of Hibbing, Mary (Howard) Rogers of Minneapolis, Ann (Peter) Vucetich of Hibbing, Sue (Gerald) Baker of Hermantown, and Lori Timmerman of Minneapolis; brother: William (Kathy) Engebretson of Pueblo, CO; sister: Sandra (Charles) Berg of Detroit Lakes, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren; special niece: Linda (Ron) Gustafson; and special nephew: Ben (Debbie) Castagneri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother: Jerome, Jr.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Memorial Service Monday, March 26, 2018, at the First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Pastor Kevin Olson will officiate. Memorials are preferred to Northstar Hospice.
