Donald E. Heisel, age 84, longtime resident of Virginia and Britt died Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Edgewood Vista Memory Care Residence. He was born November 21, 1929, in Virginia the son of Earl F. and Elsie (Tieberg) Heisel. Donald graduated from Virginia High School and went on to receive his business degree from the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Renee Roy on May 5, 1951 in Eveleth.
Donald was an owner/operator of Heisel Brothers in Virginia – working from age 14 to age 80. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia; he was active in the Boy Scouts, ROTARY, the Masonic Lodge in Virginia and the East Range Vintage Auto Club. Donald served as a PUC commissioner from 1987-1990.
Donald is survived by three sons: Earl (Roslyn) Heisel of Virginia, Brian (Lida) Heisel of Virginia, and Robert (Dawn) Heisel of Britt; five grandchildren: William (April) Heisel, Andrew (Lindsey) Heisel, Alan Heisel, Lindsay (Daniel) Aagenes, and David (Jessica) Heisel; and five great-grandchildren: Brynley, Taylor, Noah, Gabriel, and Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife: Renee in 2012.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the11:00 A.M. memorial service Monday, October 20, 2014, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Virginia. The Reverend Loren Anderson-Bauer will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Edgewood Vista for the care they have given to Donald.
