Donna Lee Helgeson, age 55 of Iron passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the Essentia Care Center-Virginia with her family at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 26, 1960 in Burlington, WI the daughter of Omar and JoAnna (Miller) Heineman, grew up in Hibbing and was a 1978 graduate of Hibbing High School and 1988 graduate of Duluth Business University in Fashion Design. Donna married Dana Helgeson on July 6, 1991 and they made their home in Iron. She was a manager for Maurices, working there for 22 years and found joy with her craft business, Kendall's Closet. Donna enjoyed fishing, sewing and shopping; and cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandkids. She was known by so many for her generous heart, contagious spirit, and especially her sense of fashion.

Donna is survived by her husband of 25 years: Dana Helgeson; children: Melissa (Craig) Kubasta of Mountain Iron and Cody Helgeson of Colorado Springs, CO; father: Omar Heineman of Hibbing; siblings: Pat (Chuck) Johnson of Roswell, NM, Ed Heineman of Hastings, MN, Marla (Tom) Vanek of Monticello, MN, Jere (Linda) Heineman of Hibbing, MN; grandchildren: Kendall and Brooklyn Kubasta; mother-in-law: Leola Helgeson of Pinewood, MN; sister-in-law: Pam (Mark) Britton of Duluth; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends, including her best friend: Dawn Farrell of Duluth.

She was preceded in death by her mother: JoAnna Heineman, nephew: Kevin Heineman, and father-in-law: Duane Helgeson.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. A gathering time for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.
