Doris L. Sametz, age 83 of Hibbing, died Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 27, 1934 in Toivola, MN, the daughter of Roy and Helen (Kero) Meade and was a graduate of Cherry High School. Doris was employed as the office manager for New York Life in Hibbing and for Voyageur Adjusting in Virginia.

Doris was an avid sports fan. Watching her grandsons play baseball, basketball and football was the best time of her life. She also loved the Twins and Vikings. She even made it to a few of those games. She played many sports in her life and made some lifetime friends. Her favorites were bowling and softball. Another thing that was special was her time at Pelican Lake with her family and later at Namakan Lake with her friend Harry Maddison.

Doris is survived by daughter: Gayle (Ed) LaTendresse of Hibbing; grandchildren: Robert (Beth) LaTendresse of Gig Harbor, WA, and James (Meghan) LaTendresse of Nashwauk; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Audrey of Gig Harbor, WA; nephews: Keith (Linda) Saralampi of Toivola, Clayton (Nancy) Saralampi of Canyon, and Scott (Kim) Saralampi of Canyon; niece: Patty (Bob) Durovec of Meadowlands and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Craig Sametz; sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Curtis Saralampi; and former husband: Robert Sametz.

The family would like to give a special thank you to: All the friends and family who visited her these last few years; Guardian Angels and the Fairview Hospice staff. Also to her cousin Tom Meade who made her beautiful urn.

A Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the 11:30 am Memorial Service on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home in Hibbing. Greg Anderson will be the celebrant. Inurnment will take place in the Toivola Cemetery.
