Doris Mae Weiss, age 85 a lifelong resident of Virginia, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 in Edgewood Vista Senior Living Center in Virginia. She was born April 23, 1926 in Virginia, MN the daughter of Clair and Ellen (Turja) Olson, graduated with honors from Virginia High School and was a graduate of Virginia Junior College. Doris married Douglas Alvin Weiss on June 5, 1948 in Virginia. She was employed by Norwest Bank in Virginia retiring as a Vice President after 41 years of service. Doris was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia, the Red Hat Society, Virginia Elks Auxiliary and loved to spend time at the cabin on Daisy Bay of Lake Vermilion.
Doris is survived by her sister, Mickey (Cliff) Wiklund of Duluth; grandsons: Michael (Andrea) Boyer of Chanhassen and Lt. Commander Daniel (Julia) Boyer of Whidbey Island, WA; great-grandchildren Natalie and Maximus Boyer; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Douglas Weiss in 1997, and her daughter: Susan Boyer, in 1989.
A Gathering Time for Family and Friends will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10 a.m until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service in Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate.
Memorials are preferred to Essentia Health – St. Mary's East Range Hospice Team or Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia.
