Dorothy S. Barden, age 89, longtime resident of Hibbing died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Auburn Manor in Chaska, MN. She was born February 5, 1925, in Carson Lake, MN, the daughter of Mike and Dorothy (Sertich) Skrbich. She graduated from Hibbing High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Marvin Barden on September 5, 1953, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing.
Dorothy worked as the store manager for Gallenkamp's Shoes for 13 years. She also worked for Pickands-Mather. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Kim (Dennis) Johnson of Red Wing, MN, Chuck (Linda Plessner) Barden of Waconia, MN, and Jayne (Lyle) Oddan of Chaska, MN; her sister: Marion Rathjen of Imperial Beach, CA; and four grandchildren: Aaron Barden, Emmylou Barden, Patrick Oddan and Alex Oddan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Charles (2010), and her brothers: George and Sam Skrbich.
A private Funeral Service was held in the Anderson-Daniels Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Susan Smith was the officiant. Interment was in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing with The Reverend Vladimir Lange officiating.
