Obituary

Dorothy Eloise Harley, age 95 of Tower died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center. She was born January 26, 1921 in Ainsworth, Iowa, the daughter of George and Eathel (McElwain) Trotter. Dorothy married Dwight L. Harley on July 24, 1940 in Ainsworth, IA. They lived in Ainsworth, Des Moines, and many places and countries while on active duty. While in Scotland, they added James Barmore to their family. They retired to Eagle's Nest in 1967. Dorothy was a writer, a poet, a homemaker, was active with Eagle's Nest Township, and a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. She enjoyed outdoor activities including: fishing, hunting, shooting, archery, hiking and canoeing.


Dorothy is survived by children: James (Kathleen) Harley of Virginia and Ann (Byron) Sugden of Effie; grandchildren: Julie (Scott) Johnson of Chippewa Falls, WI, William (Katie) Harley of Virginia, and Jimmy Barmore of Dodgeville, WI; great-grandchildren: Mason, Sam, Gavin, Audrey, and Sadie; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dwight in 1988; brothers: Larry and William Trotter; and James Barmore.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 in St. James Presbyterian Church in Tower. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the Church. Spring Interment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
