Earl William "Bill" Rautio, age 69 of Virginia died Friday, April 15, 2011 in the Virginia Regional Medical Center. He was born September 26, 1941 in Deer River, the son of Arvo and Bural (Benson) Rautio. Earl grew up in Marcell and married Darlene Olson on October 5, 1962 in Eagan. They lived in Minneapolis prior to moving to Virginia in 1970. Earl worked as an auto mechanic, a millwright, and various other jobs in and around Virginia. He was a member and Past Master of Virginia Masonic Lodge # 264 AF & AM; a member of the Eveleth Commandery # 35; a member and Past High Priest of Virginia Chapter No. 77 Royal Arch Masons; Past Worthy Patron of Star of the East Chapter # 210 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in establishing the DeMolay Chapter in Virginia. Earl also enjoyed playing cribbage.
Earl is survived by his wife: Darlene; children: Scott (Ann) Rautio of Duluth, Daniel (Adrienne) Rautio of Minnetrista, MN and Ann Rautio of Virginia; brother: Allen (Mary) Rautio of Stewart, VA, step-brother: Clifford Olson of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: BreAnna, DeLaney, Logan, KaLee, AshLeigh, JacLynn, Ellie, Kate, Ben, Grace, Joseph, and Nicholas; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, and a step-brother.
A Gathering Time for Family and Friends will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. until the 12 Noon Memorial Services in the Bauman Cron Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Phil Terrill will officiate.
