Edward Allen Anderson, resident of Hibbing, MN, passed away on August 30, 2018 at his cabin in Melrude, MN at the age of 69 years.

Edward was born in Bagley, MN on March 4, 1949 to Andrew and Viola Anderson. He grew up in Silver Bay, MN and graduated William Kelly High School in 1967. He went on to trade school to be a welder and work for the mining company in Eveleth, MN where he retired in 2012.

He enjoyed the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and camping. Ed also had a creative side to him. He loved to hunt for rocks and make necklaces out of them. But his biggest joy was to give away those necklaces that he skillfully made. At church he was known as the candy man. Children would surround him because he always had a huge bag of candy to share. Not only did the children surround the candy man, but the adults did, too. Ed had such a big heart; willing to help out whoever was in need. If someone needed help with something, he would drop what he was doing to go help them. He also loved to work at Camp Swampy. No hole was too small for a scoop of dirt, and those branches that grew close to the road were no match for Ed. Ed especially enjoyed spending time with his four grandkids. He loved to fish, play games, go four-wheeling, and tickle them to tears. Whisker rubs were always a favorite of his to give, but not so much for the others to receive.

Edward will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Janet Anderson, and his children, Daniel (Heather) and Jodi. Edward will also be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, Jonah, and Elijah Anderson, and missed by his extended family and friends. Edward is also survived by his sister, Helen Berglund.

There will be a gathering for family and friends at the First Baptist Church in Hibbing, MN on Friday, September 7, from 6:00PM to 7:00 p.m. The gathering time will continue Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service at the First Baptist Church on 605 E 41st St in Hibbing.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed's life.

Inurnment will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Cotton.
