Biography

Ernest Peternel, 88, of Ely, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, in the Ely Bloomenson Nursing Home. He was born on January 17, 1921 in Ely to George and Teresa (Vidmar) Peternel.
Ernie was the valedictorian of both his Ely High School and Vermillion Community College. He was the Ely City Clerk-Treasurer for many years, retiring in 1983. Ernie enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Center. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Ernie is survived by (1) sister: Sister Marjeta of Milwaukee,WI. and (7) nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Frank, George and John and sisters: Elizabeth, Dora, Angela and Amelia.
A memorial service will be held in June. Memorials are preferred to the Ely Area Senior Center, 27 South 1st. Avenue East-Ely,MN. 55731
