Edwin Suomu, age 88, longtime resident of Clinton Twp. died Thursday, July 5, 2012 in St. Raphael's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Eveleth. He was born in Clinton Twp. the son of Emil and Matilda (Hannula) Suomu. He graduated from Cherry High School.
Ed worked as a dairy farmer on the farm where he was born. He also worked for the forestry at the Eveleth Nursery. He attended Faith United Lutheran Church. Ed was a member of the Northern Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He enjoyed skating, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a Vikings fan as well.
Ed is survived by two sisters: Linda Viita of Virginia, MN and Lila Johnson of Monticello, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm funeral service Saturday, July 14, 2012, in Faith United Lutheran Church. Pastor Joey Bailey will officiate. Interment will be in the Forbes Cemetery.
