Eino Alexander Suihkonen, age 89, of Virginia and formerly of the Tower area, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016. He was born July 19, 1926, in Biwabik, MN, the son of John and Anna Maria (Linnamaki) Suihkonen of Embarrass, MN. Eino was united in marriage to Ann Barbara "Lolly" Frazee on June 18, 1949 in Tower. He later married Nina Anderson on April 12, 1985 in Virginia.
Eino was a Veteran of the US Army and served during WWII in the European Theatre. He worked primarily as a road construction supervisor for KGM and Hoover Construction. He was a member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church in Virginia. Eino was devoted to his family, and had a strong faith. He was a wonderful husband and father, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Eino is survived by his wife: Nina; children: Becky (Jim) Planton of Soudan, MN, Linda (Dan) Masica of Butte, MT, John (Julie) Suihkonen of Tower, MN, Roberta "Bertie" (Russ) Webb of Embarrass, MN, Bill (Jayanne) Suihkonen of Tower, MN, Ann (Brian) Moravek of Galesburg, MI, Carol (Jim) Hebl of Aurora, MN, Tom (Dena) Suihkonen of Tower, MN, Milt, Jr. (Anita) Anderson of Houston, TX, Dale Anderson of Virginia, MN, and Mark (Nancy) Anderson of Duluth, MN; grandchildren: Mike, Melissa, Alex, Betty, Chris, Jon, Steven, David, Billy, Angela, Matt, Joe, Andrew, Andi, Ari, Gabby, Libby, Denton, Brian, Dagny, Nathan, Naomi, Sarah, and Rachel; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandson; sisters: Marian Ryder of Bloomington, MN and Violet Heikkila of Virginia, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Lolly, son: Jim; and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Funeral Service Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Reverend Nathan Sager will officiate. Private interment will be at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery in Tower.
