Elaine
Annear
Aug 7, 1918 — May 24, 2014
Elaine Marcott Annear, age 95 of Virginia Minnesota went to be with her Lord on May 24, 2014 in Edgewood Vista Memory Care.
Elaine was born on August 7, 1918 in Ladysmith Wisconsin the daughter of John and Mabel Marcott of Hawkins Wisconsin. She spent much of her childhood either helping in her parent's general store in Hawkins, or looking after her little brother. After graduating from Hawkins high school, Elaine went on to graduate from La Crosse State Teachers College in 1940 with a BS degree in Teaching. She really loved the 8 years that she taught the first and second graders of Ladysmith and Beloit Wisconsin. After that, she attended Columbia University in New York for 2 summers in pursuit of a Masters degree, but while teaching at the Platteville Teachers College during the school year, she met Richard (Bud) Annear and received her Mrs. degree instead.
After Bud finished his Mining Engineering degree the happy couple was married in Elaine's family church back in Hawkins.
Bud's job moved them to Iron River, Ishpeming, Crystal Falls (all in Michigan), and then to Virginia Minnesota where Elaine was blessed to have made so many wonderful friends! She loved attending Our Saviors Lutheran Church (especially to give the quilters a hard time on Wednesdays!), volunteered at Meals on Wheels as well as the hospital, and was a frequent visitor at Pep's bakery downtown! Elaine enjoyed homemaking, teaching and people! She would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere! Elaine was also a lifetime member of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, "Bud" and a brother: Jack Marcott.
Elaine is survived by daughter Deb Annear of Bend Oregon, sister-in-law Delpha Marcott of Eugene OR, niece Renee Annear of Bessemer MI, nephew John Marcott and family of Anchorage AK, Jay Marcott and family of Eugene OR, niece Jill McCall and family of Eugene OR, and niece Julie Marcott of Eugene OR.
Elaine was a kind, loving and generous woman who loved The Lord - she will truly be missed.
