Elaine Ruth Johnson, age 83, a longtime resident of Hibbing, died Monday, September 12, 2011 in St. Mary's Essentia Health in Duluth. She was born December 15, 1927 in Hibbing, the daughter of Christ A. and Anna E. (Hegfors) Johnson. She graduated from Hibbing High School. Elaine was united in marriage to Lloyd Johnson on September 13, 1948 in Minneapolis.
Elaine worked as a secretary for Johnson TV in Hibbing. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and was active in their Circles. She was a member of the Sons of Norway Midnatsolen Lodge #058 in Hibbing, the Good Sam's Club, and the Sr. Citizens Center that meets at the Memorial Building. She enjoyed camping, and volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels, the Women's Auxiliary at the hospital, and with the local elementary classrooms.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 63 years: Lloyd; her children: Mark E. (Jody) Johnson of Duluth, and Linda A (Clair) Logan of Becker, MN; grandchildren: Crystal (fiancé Jonathan Nelson), Scott (fiancée Jackie Yarmon), Jolene (Zach) Johnson Armstrong, Eric (fiancée Valerie Stopka), Katie, and Ethan; great-grandchildren: Curtis, Jacob, Joseph, Melissa, Aurora, Jonathan, Megan, and Jeffrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers, and a sister: Bernice.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm memorial service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hibbing. The Reverend Erik Holleque will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church Columbarium. Memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
